The Journey Approach to Change

Journey Approach Flyer 5.14
The course is based on Chris’s book Find Your Power - a toolkit for resilience and positive change, which describes the journey approach to change like this:

The starting point is just to think of something you’d like to be different, where you’d like this so much you’d be prepared to make some effort to help this happen. …

The changes that are most meaningful and satisfying often don’t come straight away. There’s usually a journey involved that travels through periods of difficulty, disappointment and challenge. It is easy to get put off along the way, to lose heart and give up. So this book addresses one central question: what helps you find your power to make, and stick with, the journeys of change that matter to you most?

When you’re feeling stuck or facing obstacles, thinking of change as a journey can make it easier to view difficult patches as stages you might pass through, rather than as dead ends or permanent states. But how do you find your way through the blocks and tough times?

Over the eight weeks of the course, we’ll be drawing on material in the book to look at insights, skills and strategies that strengthen our ability to move towards any kind of goal. Each week will focus on a different aspect of change, including the following themes:

  • Getting clearer about what you really want
  • Becoming more determined and motivated
  • Building confidence
  • Problem-solving strategies
  • Resilience and bouncing back
  • Increasing the support around you
  • Maintaining enthusiasm
  • Keeping yourself on track in the longer term

Starting on Wednesday 7th May 2014, the course involves
• a 90-minute webinar each week (at 7.30pm UK time, 11.30am US PT, 2.30pm US ET, 8.30pm Europe CET) offering both training input and group-based coaching support.
• plus access to online resources, including summary tutorials, videos and a group discussion forum.

The course costs £120 (approx $200 or €145) or £80 (approx $134 or €98 ) if you need a low income concession.
